A beautiful proposal took place at Scottburgh Beach. Guillaume contact me asking if I would assist setting up the beach as he wanted to propose to Natasha. Of course I agreed, I was going to create amazing memories. I contacted a local florist, Janet’s Flowers, who at first said that she was not sure if she could get rose petals and roses on time. I waited anxiously for the phone call, she managed to get and they would arrive just in time.
The weather prediction was amazing – no wind and sunshine. Driving down the coast toward Scottburgh, I noticed clouds rolling in really fast. I started to panic….what if it rains. A say a few small drops on the windscreen and then I really started to worry. I sent Guillaume a text raising my concern…… I then sent another saying…..you doing this, even if it pours with rain. I received a reply…..I agree.
I arrived at the beach to find it relatively busy with holiday folk enjoying the perfect conditions. Darn what now……I look down the beach and about 70 meters say an opening. This was the spot I told my assistant. I drew a heart in the sand and we started digging out the shape. Once we had dug out the shape, we started pouring the rose petals. Passers by asked if I was getting married. I told them that it was for a couple and that he was going to ask the big question. We created a pathway with 40 roses…….and waited.
People walking by were asking questions and a few said that they wanted to watch Guillaume pop the question. And we waited…… The tide was also starting to come in and now I started to think about what if a wave comes and washes away the heart…….hurry now Guillaume. I received a text from Guillaume….Leaving in 10 minutes. Yes, they were on their way.
I was talking to some of the people that were waiting for the “show” to start……and I noticed a couple walk onto the beach. This must be them. Guillaume and Natasha walked passed me, as they passed I followed close being. They walked down the rose path way into the heart. Guillaume went down on one knee and popped the question. Natasha was could not contain her delight and was smiling continuously. She said “Yes” and there were cheers and clapping from the crowd on the beach that witnessed the proposal.
What a privilege and honour to be able to photograph and create memories of such a romantic engagement. Thank you Guillaume and Natasha for allowing me to be part of your proposal.
